Helping kids to learn the green way

Shellharbour City Council was successful in gaining grant funding from the NSW Environmental Trust to run this 2 year sustainability program with Shellharbour childcare centres.  The project aimed to help childcare centres operate more sustainably and offered a range of fun and social activities to help families find out how to live greener and save money.

Kids at participating centres took part in a range of activities designed to build wonder and appreciation for the natural environment.

Sustainability Resource Kit for Early Childhood Educators
To mark the end of the GMGC program Council developed a Sustainability Resource Kit to assist and inspire centres both within the Shellharbour area and beyond to continue their sustainability journey.

This easy to use resource contains a range of sustainability tips and case studies from participating centres including simple low cost initiatives as well as some more complex higher effort actions. Whilst this resource is primarily targeted at child care centres it contains a range of actions and activities that could be useful to families looking to reduce their environmental impacts.
